I think with dental hygiene people often think, 鈥榊ou don鈥檛 just clean teeth?鈥� You have to learn a lot of the same things that nurses learn. It鈥檚 very in depth, from anatomy, even psychology and communications,鈥� said student Maggie. 鈥淭hey learn the terminology and the basics to oral pathology, pharmacology. It鈥檚 a wide variety of topics but everything is covered,鈥� said Valerie, the Dental Hygiene Program Director at 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Boise, Idaho campus. 鈥淲e get to sit people down and we get to start at the very beginning with their assessments which includes probing and checking out their gum health. We get to take the X-rays ourselves which is great and then we get to clean their teeth,鈥� Maggie said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 good to have that experience because it鈥檚 going to facilitate that integration into our professional careers, it鈥檚 just going to help the transition to be a lot smoother,鈥� said student Eric. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a very intense program, it鈥檚 worth it. The instructors are amazing and they help you so much,鈥� said student Christina. 鈥淭hey work really well trying to teach us exactly what we need to know,鈥� said student Shandee.
