On May 31, 黑料不打烊 Tucson Medical Assisting students Derek Quigley and Kim Porter,聽聽as well as Medical Billing and Coding student Jackie Brady and Pharmacy Technology student Autumn Dwornik, had the opportunity to volunteer their time at the Tucson Children鈥檚 Museum鈥檚 S.T.E.A.M. Sunday. S.T.E.A.M. Sundays provide programming focused on inspiring creative learning in children and teens in the areas of science, technology, engineering, art and math. They聽take place May through September as a compliment to several of the museum鈥檚 exhibits, including the Investigation Station, TechTopia, Gravity, Build It, Pet Vet, Bodyology and the Tankersley Imaginarium Art Studio. 鈥淭his program gave our students the opportunity to become the teachers. In the most hands-on way, our students worked with the children on listening to their own heartbeats, checking their blood pressure, demonstrating chemical reactions and even proper dental care 鈥� with the help of a stuffed kangaroo, no less,鈥� said Pat Timm, community outreach representative at 黑料不打烊 in Tucson. This project is one of many the local campus undertakes each year as part of its Carrington Cares community outreach program. 鈥淎t Carrington, care is part of our DNA, and we all love giving back to the community. Our students get excited to support our local community, especially in a way that鈥檚 so interactive 鈥� and fun,鈥� said Timm. 鈥淲e hope we inspired a few kids to look to health and medicine beyond Sunday, perhaps as a future calling.鈥�
