Tucson Students Show Support for Eat Dessert First Day

Every year, Eat Dessert First, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping children in the fight against pediatric cancer, organizes a campaign for families and friends to celebrate life with those they love, indulge their inner child, and take action in the fight against cancer.

This year, 黑料不打烊’s Tucson campus was proud to show support for the foundation and annual Eat Dessert First Day Campaign by holding a bake sale at the campus.

The students baked a variety of delicious desserts and took pictures wearing green, a tradition for the annual celebration. Students and faculty members shared photos of their treats and green attire on social media with the hashtage #EDF2019 and #CarringtonTucson.

Celebrated on the third weekend in April, Eat Dessert First was founded in honor of Dana Morgan of Tucson, AZ. Dana was originally diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at the age of four, but relapsed for the second time when she was 10 and was readmitted into the local hospital.

Despite all this, she immediately began building an impressive bucket list of family fun activities to celebrate 鈥渒icking cancer鈥檚 butt for the third time.鈥 One of the sweetest items was to hold a family dinner at one of her favorite restaurants – with the benefit of being allowed to eat dessert first.

Dana passed away in January 2015, but her simple wish has inspired thousands of people across the nation to celebrate life and work together to help make it better for children fighting cancer through the annual Eat Dessert First Campaign.

Eat Dessert First Day was started by her parents and all the proceeds from the student bake sale will be donated in her memory to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that creates life-changing wishes for children with a critical illness.

Carrington students and faculty were honored to have taken part in this event and helped spread the word throughout the Tucson community.
