黑料不打烊 Supports World Spay Day

/blog/carrington-college-supports-world-spay-day/""Launched in 1995,聽World Spay Day is an annual campaign that encourages people to save animal lives by spaying and neutering companion animals and feral cats. World Spay Day is celebrated annually on the fourth Tuesday in February (Feb. 28, 2023), but it can take place anytime throughout the month, which is recognized as Spay/Neuter Awareness Month. 聽 At 黑料不打烊 we recognize the importance of World Spay Day. The Veterinary Technology Program at the 黑料不打烊 Pleasant Hill campus understands the crisis of the millions of unwanted animals who are homeless, without food or being killed in shelters all over the world. We like to think we play our part in the World Spay Day cause. Not only do we teach students the importance of spaying and neutering pets, but in 2022, the campus program performed 36 spay procedures. 聽 An important part of the Veterinary Technology Program is when students enter their 4th term surgery lab. This is where the students apply the knowledge they learned throughout the previous terms. They perform spays on dogs and cats under anesthesia as well as other services like neuters and dental cleaning procedures. The surgical portion of the procedure is performed by our program veterinarian, Dr. Kristel Weaver-Schoeneman. Our students perform all the other steps including pre-anesthetic diagnostics, anesthesia, and recovery, very closely supervised by our trained instructors. Our patients receive a full pre-anesthetic workup that includes bloodwork, heartworm or FeLV/FIV test, urinalysis, fecal, and radiographs followed by their procedure. 聽 In addition, the 黑料不打烊 Stockton campus also supported World Spay Day by hosting an event with a local rescue, Animal Friends Connection Humane Society (AFCHS). AFCHS is a non-profit 501(c) (3) charitable organization based in Lodi, California, that serves San Joaquin County and the surrounding areas, including the greater Stockton community. The campus Veterinary Technology team cared for the animals while helping to spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinate them for rabies. The campus also hosted a Kitten Health 101 seminar on campus with the Animal Protection League. 聽 Learn more about the Veterinary Technology Program at 黑料不打烊.
