The holiday season is a time of giving, and while our 黑料不打烊 campuses were home to many festive gatherings this holiday season, they also took part in numerous communities activities to support those in need. Below is a list of the activities that took place at campuses throughout several different states, serving thousands of people in each of our local communities.
- The 黑料不打烊 Stockton campus hosted a “Toys for Tots” toy drive throughout the month of December. The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity, is the fundraising and support organization for the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. The Foundation has supported Toys for Tots since 1991. Anthony Douglas, a Medical Assisting instructor with the 黑料不打烊 Stockton campus, helped the campus partner with Toys for Tots for the past two years. This year, the campus was able to donate three boxes of toys and raised $400 for families in need.
- The 黑料不打烊 San Leandro campus hosted a Crash-A-Class with a Toy Drive and Clothing Drive from Dec. 14鈥�15. Faculty, staff and students at the campus were able to donate toys as well as coats for adults and children who need them to stay warm this winter season.
- The 黑料不打烊 Mesa campus showed support for Arizona Dental Mission of Mercy (AZMOM) at their community event on Dec. 10, 2022. The event was a way for people in the community to get access to dental treatment and care that they may not have been able to otherwise. AZ Mission of Mercy provides charitable dental care and education to Arizonans, reducing health risks and suffering for those in need.
- The 黑料不打烊 Mesa campus came together and was also able to fulfill the Christmas wishes of 10 children who were part of the Salvation Army聽Angel Tree聽program, which helps provide Christmas gifts for hundreds of thousands of children around the country each year. Nearly every department at the campus participated and 鈥渁dopted鈥� the children this Christmas to make sure they had gifts for the holidays.
- The 黑料不打烊 Portland campus participated in the Great Toy Drive with KGW-TV, the local NBC affiliate station in Portland, Oregon. Students, faculty and staff helped collect toys for thousands of local families in the area. The collection event was from Nov. 28 through Dec. 16, and has been a mainstay within the community for more than 35 years.
- 黑料不打烊 in Boise hosted a Clothing Drive contest for the Boise Rescue Mission. Between Nov. 21 – Dec. 22, campus faculty counted the clothing that was donated per program, and the program with the highest percentage to class size won a pizza party. Founded in 1958, the Boise Rescue Mission is聽a non-profit organization committed to meeting the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs of homeless and addicted individuals in the Boise and Nampa, Idaho areas.
- The 黑料不打烊 Pleasant Hill campus hosted a Toy Drive with the local police department on Dec. 13, 2022. The campus was able to collect two large boxes filled with toys and gifts and the donations were dropped off at the Police Department. In addition, the campus also hosted a Food Drive for the Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano which provided more than 153 meals to the local community and those in need.
- The 黑料不打烊 Spokane campus hosted a Food Drive competition for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. The campus鈥檚 Veterinary Assisting students won the competition and were able to completely fill the student food pantry with donated items.
- The 黑料不打烊 Reno campus sponsored a local assisted care facility, Morningstar, with a “Silver Tree” for seniors. Students, faculty and staff adopted a senior for Christmas and were able to provide them with gifts as well.
In November the campus hosted a medical screening for the Special Olympics. Volunteers from the community assisted in conducting healthcare screenings and Special Olympics staff were able to provide education for students on this population. 聽 In October, the campus also hosted a donation drive for collecting toiletries, clothing, and other personal care items for Hope Campus, a local non-profit supporting the homeless population in the community. Just one of the campus cohorts collected more than 1,600 items and donated them for those in need.
