黑料不打烊 San Leandro Announces New Veterinary Technology Instructor

New San Leandro Vet Tech InstructorDr. Melanie Ellis has been appointed to serve as the new instructor for its Veterinary Technology program at 黑料不打烊 San Leandro. As the campus veterinarian, Dr. Ellis is responsible for performing surgeries and training students while maintaining a high level of patient care. She also assists in developing anesthetic protocols and training staff members on new treatments and medications.

鈥淚 want our 黑料不打烊 San Leandro campus to be on the cutting edge of medical and technical education,鈥 says Dr. Ellis. 鈥淭he Bay Area standard of care in veterinary practice is very high, but we recently upgraded much of our medical equipment and I want our students to be able to support the practices they go to work for at the highest possible level,鈥 added Dr. Ellis. 鈥淚 also want to make sure that our students remember that caring for animals is both a gift and a huge responsibility, and that our education and experience gives us unique opportunities to ensure that their lives are healthy, happy, and free from pain and fear.鈥

Dr. Ellis is a member of the California Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA), the American VMA (AVMA), Contra Costa VMA, American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP), the National Association of Vet Techs in America (NAVTA), Pride VMC (LGBTQ+ Veterinary Medical Community), and the Multi-Cultural VMA (MCVMA).聽She is also a member of the California Veterinary Medical Reserve Corps (CAVMRC), a group of veterinarians and support staff who respond to state emergencies that require a veterinary medical response, such as fires and other natural disasters.

鈥淚 love the enthusiasm of our students,鈥 added Dr. Ellis. 鈥淚’m constantly dazzled by both their hearts and their technical skills. I also love my colleagues at 黑料不打烊, and not just in the Veterinary Technology department, but in all the disciplines. They bring so much thought, effort, and empathy to not just their own fields, but the entire organization as well.鈥

Dr. Ellis received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of California, Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine. With more than 17 years of experience and a focus on feline medicine and surgery, Dr. Ellis has served in a variety of roles including urgent care, internal medicine, orthopedics, client education, and preventative medicine.
